Non fiction reading response to "Chasing Lincoln's Killer" by James Swanson

                 
                   The book "Chasing Lincoln's Killer" by James Swanson, basically talks about the history of the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. The books talks about how James Wilkes Booth's side of the story and what he went through. It also talks about his opinions and thoughts of what he did. He thought that killing Lincoln would make him a hero figure that will be looked up to by many. But instead he has to run around hiding from the press and man hunters. Not only does he have to run for his life but he also has to live knowing that everybody who he tried to impress now hates him along with anybody that supported or liked Lincoln. So basically his entire plan Back fires on him completely.

                    In my opinion I think every little bit of the book was interesting. I have this opinion for the basic reason that the author gives a lot of detail and description. Also along with detail and description he also shows images relevant to the current topic in the book. This helped create and detail what I was thinking in my head so far as the characters and scenery go. Though a con of the book was that, it's not what I would call suspenseful. It didn't have me jumping out of my seat, basically i thought it was similar to a history lesson.

                   Because of the book, I've learned that James Wilkes Booth did have good intentions just that he didn't look over his strategy plan. I really don't think anybody in the right mind would've missed that fact that he would easily be hated as result of his plan. The book made me dislike James Wilkes Booth a little less, only for the fact that the shear embarrassment he must have felt and the self pitty eating up his self conscience. But i still really do dislike him considering he killed a good man for no good reason. So basically the book did somewhat changed my thoughts and opinions about James Wilkes Booth all while giving me extra education on U.S. history, even though I don't enjoy history lessons.
